Toward Zero Impact is an initiative powered by Piscina Barcelona to reduce waste, save resources and boost the event’s sustainability.
That’s why we strive to calculate and offset our GHG emissions, separate waste and promote energy efficiency.

What do we do to achieve the highest sustainability?
Filling the pools and spas
Thanks to an agreement with the Institut Barcelona Esports (IBE - the Barcelona Sports Institute), we fill up our pools with water on loan from the Bernat Picornell Municipal Sports Centre, and we will return this water to the facility after a battery of physiochemical tests so it can be reused.
Gifts with social value
Piscina Barcelona collaborates Fundació Vinne, a non-profit foundation from whom the organisers buys its free towels and totebags handed out to VIP visitors.
Calculating the carbon footprint
The Plant for the Planet Foundation will be computing the carbon footprint resulting from transporting and using the water to fi ll the show’s pools and spas. After this year’s edition, it will plant 500 trees in the Doñana Nature Park.
Circular economy
We are committed to reuse, recycling and reducing waste.
Koa Factory, in charge of setting up the show’s common areas, will be utilising materials with a low environmental impact. The materials in the common areas will be reused and get a new life after the show.
We reduced the use of printed paper, providing information through the App, the website and QR codes, as well as online invoicing and contracting.
The lanyard (made from recycled material) is encouraged to be returned upon leaving the event.
Various elements have been made from recycled paper (pass holders, merchandising, etc.) and the use of sustainable materials is prioritised (e.g., in the signage).
Single-use plastics have been reduced.
The stand packs are 100% reusable, even the carpet!
Fight food waster
We design menu offers that contain mainly seasonal products, with a commitment to proximity and local products. We collaborate with entities that use surplus food ensuring it doesn’t go to waste.
