Taking place on 8 October as part of Mexico Hospitality Expo (MHE) in Guadalajara
Piscina Barcelona to host Mexico forum on design, wellness and hospitality
Piscina Barcelona will host the eighth edition of its International Meeting on Hospitality Design & Wellness in Guadalajara, Mexico, on 8 October, as part of Mexico Hospitality Expo. The event will bring together more than 20 international experts from hotel groups, architecture practices, consultancies and leading companies to examine the trends reshaping the hospitality, design and wellness sectors, as well as the new business opportunities emerging from their development.
The forum will explore the growing role of wellness as a strategic pillar in the design and management of hotels, resorts and branded residential developments. Throughout the day, speakers will address topics including rest and holistic health, mental wellbeing, longevity, physical recovery, biophilic design, sensory experiences and thermal wellness – all of which are redefining the way hospitality spaces are conceived.
The opening session will feature Mexican architect Jorge Arditti, president of AIA LATAM, the Latin American network of the American Institute of Architects, and founding partner of Arditti + RDT Arquitectos; David Cámara, a specialist in collaborative ecosystems for the contract channel; and María Dolores Cubero, project manager for Piscina Barcelona (Spain).
Latin America as a global reference
A key focus of the meeting will be the emergence of Latin America and the Caribbean as a new international hub for wellness and design. Experts including Camille Irazusta (Six Senses), Ignacio Fernández Erdocia (Palladium Hotel Group), Andrés Osorio (OBMI) and Pedro Velasco (Maat Handasa) will discuss how the region’s natural, cultural and creative wealth is helping to shape a distinctive and exportable identity within the hospitality sector.
The programme will also examine how wellness principles can be translated into tangible spaces and experiences. Professionals including Salvador Rivas (HBA), Diana Mestre (Mestre & Mestre), Jorge Zaragoza (Accor), Javier Rojas Rodríguez (Experiential Hospitality Group) and other specialists will explore the role of architecture, interior design, equipment, lighting, technology and materials in creating environments designed to support wellbeing.
New business opportunities
The forum will also focus on business opportunities linked to wellness. In this context, Jesús Rodríguez Maseda, Director of Strategic Consultancy at Savills Spain and co-founder of Branded Residences Monitor, will present a report on the evolution of Mexico’s branded residences market – luxury residential developments associated with prestigious hotel brands that combine home ownership with exclusive services. It is one of the segments with the greatest potential for international growth.
The closing session will examine how wellness concepts have become tools for generating economic, property and brand value. Speakers will include Nicolás Martínez (Accor), Giovanni Medina (1508 London), Ingrid Jonsson de la Garza (Lado Inverso Estudio) and Diego Malvarez (RGS Europe), who will explore the growing convergence between hospitality, wellness, design and real estate.
Launched by Piscina Barcelona in 2017, the International Meeting on Hospitality Design & Wellness has established itself as a platform for debate and networking among professionals from the architecture, hotel, wellness and contract sectors across Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.
Initially held every two years as part of Piscina Barcelona until 2023, the forum has since expanded its activities with annual editions in other strategic markets, including Madrid and Mexico, where it was already present at Mexico Hospitality Expo in 2025. The International Meeting on Hospitality Design & Wellness nevertheless retains a permanent place within Piscina Barcelona, where it will return alongside the next edition of the show in 2027.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with ASOFAP, Piscina Barcelona 2027 will take place from 15–18 November 2027 at the Gran Via exhibition centre. The show is expected to bring together more than 450 exhibitors from 30 countries and attract more than 20,000 trade visitors, reinforcing its position as one of the leading international events for the swimming pool, wellness and outdoor industries.
