Mexico takes center stage at Piscina Barcelona with a day dedicated to innovation and investment

On November 18, 2025, Piscina Barcelona will host Mexico Day, an exclusive event showcasing the most innovative projects and business opportunities the country offers to the pool, wellness, and outdoor living sectors. The initiative reflects Mexico’s growing role as a strategic market, fueled by demand from new hotel construction and renovations, residential investment, and the development of community and sports facilities.

The day will open with a market analysis by Patricia Abreu, Commercial Director of the Mexican Pool Professionals Association, who will outline the sustained growth of Mexico’s pool sector forecasted for the next decade—between 5% and 10% annually. The event will also feature official representatives from Mexico, reinforcing its institutional support.

The dynamism of the Mexican pool sector is particularly evident in the hospitality industry, which has become a strategic client for pools and wellness facilities.  Rising domestic and international tourism, together with growing demand for luxury and wellness, is fueling new aquatic developments.

Destinations such as Cancún, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, and Mexico City are experiencing steady visitor growth. This trend is spurring major investments in new resorts, boutique hotels, and large-scale developments, as well as renovations and upgrades of existing facilities. Sustainability and advanced technology are also shaping projects, making Mexico a prime stage for pools, wellness areas, and outdoor environments where design, energy efficiency, and quality are top priorities.

Residential real estate projects are also increasingly incorporating pools, spas, and aquatic amenities as key differentiators that elevate comfort and lifestyle. These features not only enhance residents’ recreational and relaxation options but also add considerable value to properties in a highly competitive market.

At the same time, since 2020 Mexico has seen sustained growth in sports and community facilities. Public and private investment is expanding infrastructure for leisure and fitness, many of which include aquatic centers, further strengthening the link between wellbeing and social cohesion.

    Success Stories: Innovation in Action
The event will also showcase real-world projects in Mexico that already feature sustainable, high value-added solutions developed by pool and wellness companies. These include the Coyoacán Sports Center, whose Olympic pool has adopted a solar heating system that cuts gas consumption by more than 80%, and the Fiesta Americana Cozumel Hotel, part of Grupo Posadas, which has refurbished eleven pools with a new lining that improves efficiency, aesthetics, and the user experience. Filtration systems in the machine rooms have also been updated.

Both projects were selected by Piscina Barcelona as part of its Innovation Program, launched in 2021 and established to position wellbeing, health, and community as the core principles of innovative, sustainable, and well-managed pool design. Through this program, the show recognizes and gives visibility to successful national and international cases that demonstrate how aquatic facilities can become spaces that not only deliver efficiency and comfort, but also social and health benefits for their users.

    Networking Beyond Mexico
As part of “Mexico Day”, the 7th International Business Meeting Hospitality Design & Wellness will take place, broadening the focus beyond Mexico to explore opportunities in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East. Since 2015, this event has consolidated itself as a key platform where buyers from these regions present projects in architecture, landscaping, outdoor spaces, aquatic facilities, and wellness, while connecting directly with exhibitors to exchange needs and opportunities.

The meeting will combine keynote presentations, panel discussions, and networking sessions to foster interaction between attendees and speakers. Among the participants are architects, designers, project managers, real estate developers, and representatives of major hotel chains and groups from Mexico, Latin America, and the United States, as well as leading players from Europe and the Middle East.

Following the sessions, a space will be opened for pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, reinforcing the goal of the event: to generate knowledge, inspiration, strategic collaborations, and new business opportunities, with particular attention to projects linked to the Mexican market.
