Piscina Barcelona honors the most transformative projects in the sector

Piscina Barcelona 2025 announced yesterday the winners of the five competitions it organizes, in an event held at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, attended by more than one hundred professionals. The awards recognize excellence in areas such as swimming pools, wellness, outdoor design, technology and young talent. A total of 13 trophies were presented to companies and students, including two special recognitions: one to Hayward for its centenary and another, posthumously, to Joan Planes, founder of Fluidra, for his contribution to the growth of the trade show and the sector.

The awards are divided into five competitions: Piscina Barcelona Awards, Innovative Product Awards, Wellness Experience Awards, Outdoor Design Awards, and the International Competition for Architecture and Landscape Students. Each of them evaluated proposals distinguished by their creativity, impact and environmental commitment.

“The awards reflect the dynamism, creativity and commitment to sustainability that characterize the sector,” said Ángel Celorrio, director of the Piscina Barcelona show. “We are proud to be the stage where the talent and innovation that transform the world of wellness, design and the equipment of aquatic facilities and outdoor spaces are recognized.”

    Piscina Barcelona Awards 2025
The Piscina Barcelona Awards highlighted the most relevant projects in residential pools, public pools and innovative products.

In the public pool category, the award went to the Pools of Camping Sangulí, in Salou, designed by Piscinas Condal. They stand out for their integration into a privileged natural environment and for offering a complete aquatic experience with swimming pools for adults and children, built using dry shotcrete. They combine design, sustainability and flawless technical execution, guaranteeing total watertightness and a harmonious fusion of nature, wellness and architecture.

In the residential pool category, the award went to Casa Buganvilla, by Construma Costa Blanca SL, for its commitment to energy efficiency and landscape integration. The project transformed an existing pool into an infinity-type installation that visually merges with the marine environment. It incorporates technical solutions geared toward sustainability and stands out for its low environmental impact and high water quality.

In the Innovative Product category, exclusive to exhibitors, two distinctions were granted. In the field of connectivity, the award went to EcoSurfer Senti, by Aiper, the first solar-powered skimmer with computer vision and digital water analysis. In sustainability, Keramikos Grey 2 Green, by Oxidine Water Technology SL, was recognized for its ceramic ultrafiltration system that enables the recovery of 99.9% of the water used in aquatic facilities. The innovative product awards are sponsored by Eurospapool News and OneDrop.

    Wellness Experience Awards
The Wellness Experience Awards recognized the best spas, thermal resorts, clinics and wellness destinations of the year. The best spa was Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa, in Andorra, featuring 5,000 m² devoted to wellness in the heart of nature. The awarded thermal resort was Iberik Gran Balneario de Guitiriz, in Galicia, for combining thermal tradition and innovation. In the wellness clinic category, the award went to ZEM Wellness Clinic, in Altea, for its holistic approach to longevity. The best wellness destination was Puerto de la Cruz, in Tenerife, for its history as a pioneer of health tourism in Spain.

    Outdoor design and emerging talent
In the Outdoor Design Awards, the jury recognized the project Can Farrés. Landscape and Memory, by the Scob studio, for its respectful intervention in a 15th-century farmhouse in the Montserrat Natural Park. The design stands out for its integration with the environment, the use of local materials and the recovery of the bond between architecture and territory.

The International Competition for Architecture and Landscape Students, sponsored by Fluidra, awarded three proposals that reinterpret water as a central element in urban design, imagining an aquatic center in Park Güell.

The first prize went to Bio-immersive viewpoint 72, by Max Hildebrand, a student at the Barcelona School of Architecture, who proposes an aquatic center integrated into the park and conceived as a source of life, health and social interaction. The design harmonizes architecture, nature and city, in dialogue with Gaudí’s legacy.

The second prize went to Horizon Trencadís, by Lara Jiménez González, a student at Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès, which proposes a sustainable aquatic center connecting architecture, biodiversity and modernist tradition.

The third prize was awarded to Aquora, by Borja Gosálbez Mulet, a student of the Master’s Degree in Landscape and Urbanism (ETSA-UPV), who proposes a peaceful bathing space inspired by Gaudí’s organic forms. It integrates aquatic equipment and landscaping adapted to the Mediterranean environment, shaping the space through the flow of water.

    Special recognitions
During the event, two honorary distinctions were presented. The first, to Hayward, celebrating its centenary as a global manufacturer of swimming pool equipment and technologies. Founded in 1925, Hayward has become an international benchmark in connected, sustainable and high-performance solutions for water treatment, heating and automation of aquatic facilities.

The second, posthumously, went to Joan Planes, founder of Fluidra and a key figure in the development of the swimming pool industry and the Piscina Barcelona show. An industrial engineer and visionary entrepreneur, he co-founded Astral S.A. in 1969, the seed of today’s multinational Fluidra group. Under his leadership, the company expanded to more than 47 countries. In 2016 he was named Honorary Chairman. His legacy endures in the values of innovation, sustainability and commitment that guide the company, as well as in the social impact of the Fluidra Foundation.
