Project Director | El Equipo Creativo
    Marcos Merino

    Biography

Architecture, design, and thought intertwine in the career of Marcos Merino, whose practice combines technical precision with a profoundly sensory approach to space. As Project Director at El Equipo Creativo, he has contributed to the development of such unique projects as the common areas of the Kimpton Los Monteros hotel, the Selva restaurant, and the Sonora cocktail bar in Amsterdam, in addition to participating in various hotel projects in different European cities. His professional journey, forged in architectural studios and consolidated during his time in London, has led him to conceive of architecture as an emotional and hedonistic experience, where every detail engages with the atmosphere and identity of the place.

Alongside his professional practice, Marcos Merino is pursuing his doctorate at the University of Seville, focusing on vernacular architecture and the anthropological interpretations of Bernard Rudofsky. His research delves into the wisdom of the anonymous and the everyday, proposing a contemporary reading of tradition as a source of inspiration for a more humane, conscious, and poetic architecture.

This project stands out for organically integrating outdoor spaces —such as the pool and relaxation areas— into the overall design of the hotel, turning them into key elements of the guest experience. It offers a contemporary vision of hotel design in Andalusia, combining respect for tradition with a clear commitment to aesthetic and functional innovation. Moreover, it reinforces the idea that design can be a transformative tool in quality tourism, positioning Andalusia as a benchmark in hospitality that values both experience and environment.
